The Bow river is a beautiful water way flowing from the Banff's rocky mountains, all the way through the city of calgary. It boasts large brown trout and gorgeous rainbow trout. The river is about 400 feet across at average places through Calgary. On this 40 mile stretch of river,  many wildlife animals come for their morning drinks. It is not rare to see wildlife drinking from the rivers side.

To stand in the river and fly fish is a feeling like no other. In the new morning freshness it is unbelievably quiet and you can see the fish jumping out of the river while you cast. The fish here love dry flies, and nymph fishing as well.

Check River Conditions

The average fish here is from about 16 inches all the way to 20+   It is uncommon to catch a small fish here. The colors on the fish are tremendously vibrant and new.  A fly fisherman's dream. There are close to 2500 fish per mile, so spending some time here will be rewarded.
